Puppy Training - Fetching Your Goals
from:Having a puppy at home can create some of the most amazing times
not only for you but for your family as well. Puppies are so
cute and adorable and if you have kids that experience is
something that becomes so much more. Seeing your kids with this
new puppy having a good time with it and playing with it is
something that can't be replaced. This may be something that is
amazing but at the same time you can't become a lazy owner.
Taking care of a puppy requires a lot of time and dedication
that you simply can't ignore. There are many negative
consequences to doing this and later on in the dogs life is
usually when these come up. There are some people that think
that this won't be a problem because they will have time later
on down the line to correct any problems that may come up. This
is terrible thinking because it is much harder to teach an older
dog that is set in his ways how to act instead of teaching a
younger dog. Your goal should be to have a grown up dog that
knows how to act and knows what to do.
One of these responsibilities that you have to raising a puppy
is to make sure that you take him to get exercise. Puppies have
so much abundance of energy that sometimes it's unbelievable to
think where they can be hiding all this. It is actually quite
amazing to see it in action. This energy has to be burned off in
order to supplement other training you want to do with him. His
loss of energy lowers ability to resist learning. It makes him
more docile and more susceptible to learn something new.
A great way to burn some of this energy is to have him play
fetch. It's a great exercise because you stand there and do
nothing as he runs back and forth to get something for you. The
best way to play this game is to make sure you use something
that he loves to chew or play with. This is key because if you
use something that he doesn't really care about then you risk
having him not be interested at all. A good idea would be to
offer him some toys early on before you plan on going to play
and keep watch on what he likes best. Then just use this to get
him running. Something to keep in mind though is that if you
never let him have the toy, he could get bored with this game so
for you to prevent that you need to change things up a bit. Once
he comes back play a little tug with the toy and let him win.
This is also a great time to practice any other tricks you might
have taught him.
Playing fetch is a great activity and is one that you can make
into an entire family outing. It is a great time to use to spend
with your family.
