Why a Large Dog Breed is so Fun to Own!

is wanted by large dogs for walking because regular walking and
exercise is important for them. A large dogs food should be
given to puppies for the first 15 to 18 months because of their
slow maturation rate and enormous growth. Always calculate
accurately or determine meal portions and practice moderation
when giving your dog treats. Large dog breeds are dogs that are
larger than the lap sized animal. These dogs are often heavier
to carry and can even be larger than children.
These dogs are difficult to handle when they become destructive
out of boredom or anxiety. Talk to your veterinarian about the
specific exercise requirements for your specific animal. These
large dogs require obedience training at an early age to make
them safe to have in a domestic setting. As you may imagine, an
out of control huge dog and cause huge damage if not under
control. Proper training will ensure that the dog will not hurt
themselves and their owners through ignorance.
Large dog breeds eat a great deal more food and are more
expensive to feed than their smaller counterparts. Food for
these larger dog is specially formulated with the correct
nutritional balance for each stage of their development. Again,
if you are not sure as to the nutritional requirements, check
with your veterinarian.
Large dog breeds in particular, such as Labradors, German
shepherds and Great Danes are more vulnerable to canine
osteoarthritis. Because their weight adds more strain, this
naturally causes more vulnerability to their joints. Large dogs
weigh in excess of 50 to 75 pounds. Very large dogs can be over
75 plus pounds. This kind of weight has a way of straining
joints, tendons and cartilage. These dogs eat a great deal more
food and are more expensive to care for and maintain than their
smaller sized relatives. Food for these large dogs is specially
formulated with the correct nutritional balance for the dog at
each stage of their development.
A large dog will also take up more room in small apartments,
however there are a few contradictions. Think about this
analogy, a low energy Newfoundland may effectively take up less
space than a high energy Jack Russell Terrier. The large and
giant breeds of dogs can be good with children if they are
raised with children around and interacting in the family, but
because of their size they can be clumsy and may bowl toddlers
over easily.
